Jaguar Photo Story

Solitary, elusive and beautiful the Jaguar is the biggest cat in America and it is considered a critically endangered species in many countries including Mexico. In the last 20 years the number of Jaguars have decline more than 60 percent in this country, less than 3500 are left in the wild. Threats to wild Jaguars include the loss and fragmentation of its habitat, ilegal hunting, conflict with ranchers due to the real or perceived threat posed to livestock, and overhunting of jaguar’s prey. By using camera traps and during the course of one year I try to capture the beauty of Jaguars, their influence in culture and the difficult reality they are facing in Mexico.
